Talon Sketches

I know I said I had found a design for this guy but he's just so much fun to experiment with.

Raptor Designs

I think I may have finally hit on a design that I like for the raptor in my comic. =)

The idea behind him is that he is the first dinosaur in the evolutionary line to be born with the mutation to eat meat. His parents are birds or birdlike dinosaurs, so his design is meant to look a bit like the feathers are just pasted onto random spots to show that he is built differently from the rest of his family. His name is Talon, mainly due to honoring the Primal Rage games...

Mr. Mockingbird makes an appearance here too.

Have a look!

Rough rough walk cycle

This is meant to be an extremely rough walk cycle for the main character in my film. Yes, I tweened the torso, but only because I wanted to focus on the legs for now. ^^; The legs are dark because I was trying to experiment a bit with what types of shapes will still read as walking even if you can't specifically see the feet.

This walk is a bit slow for him but not terribly. He tends to be a very down guy so he doesn't walk at a regular pace- more like a "have no where to go" walk.

More walk cycles to come of him.

Daily Design: Eskimo

My anthropology class watched a documentary including Eskimos, so I was inspired to draw one. I'd like to design more over the weekend in time for CTN. =)

Comic Preview

Hello!

Sorry for the lack of DDs! Lately there's been a lot of work piling up at one time - this weekend there's comic layouts, film boarding, and critical studies papers to be written. So I haven't been doing DD's as of lately for more time to work.

Here's a quick panel from my comic. Not the final pass (it's just in the layout stages) but I sort of liked the rough lighting and pose. I've also finally found a design I liked. =)

Raptor Stuff

More comic stuff.

My story's main protagonist (or antagonist, at this point it's kind of up to who's reading the comic) is a raptor. I really wanted to go more in the direction of birdlike raptors rather than full on dinosaurs. I have yet to get comfortable drawing them but luckily they're tons of fun to pose and stretch. =)

I haven't hit on a design I enjoy for the main character yet, so more to come. I'm warning you, they're very messy. The point was just to get shape and value across- the comic itself will be either black/white or monochromatic sepia tones.

Dino Concepts

So I'm taking a graphic novel class, and halfway through the semester I finally come up with a story idea that sounds okay. Somewhat late, but at least there's still some time at this point. I'll probably end up posting the comic here once I'm done with it.

It's about dinosaurs. Yep. I'm not happy with these designs, but that just means more to come. Sorry for the bad cropping, his tail ends at the end of the page!

How did I ever get into this odd schedule of updating my blog at 2-3am at night? It seems a rare occasion that I update during daylight. Hmm.

Jaguarundi - Second Try

I wasn't particularly happy with the way the first attempt came out. To me it seemed very stiff and over-complicated for a cat that's almost solidly one color. Therefore, I tried to simplify it a bit more this time as if it were actually for animation.

Tell me which one you guys enjoy more- it may be interesting to hear opinions!

These guys have some of the most awkward facial structures ever.

Character Turnaround - 3D Modeling

It seems that finally, after a year and a half of working in the program, Maya is starting to cooperate with me (that is if you ignore the program crashing last week on one of my finished assignments...). Still, surprisingly everything works fine when I'm modeling. We're finally getting into character modeling as opposed to just props and such, so I thought I might share a few screenshots.

My character is a quick drawing of a boy (I think I'll name him Tommy). I just finished his torso and we'll be modeling the arms, legs, and head soon.
